The Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Jack Straw MP, has appointed The Honourable Mr Justice Blake to be the President of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber of the Upper Tribunal with effect from 15 February 2010.

The Honourable Mr Justice (Sir Nicholas John Gorrod) Blake is 60, was called to the Bar (M) in 1974 and took Silk in 1994. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder and then Recorder in 2000 and as a High Court Judge of the Queen’s Bench Division in 2007.
This appointment is the first made to the new Immigration and Asylum Chamber which is expected to come into effect, subject to Parliamentary approval, on 15 February 2010.
